Overview

The Fish & Wildlife Department is accepting applications for the Communications and Outreach Coordinator position.  The Communications and Outreach Coordinator strategizes and executes the department's marketing plan, and provides essential communications with the public through press releases and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). This position will also involve grant writing for marketing and other outreach campaigns.

Major Job Duties:

1. Plans, develops, and implements comprehensive marketing and social media plans to promote fish and wildlife-based recreation in Vermont.
2. Plans, develops, and implements comprehensive marketing and social media plans to increase donations to various department funds as well as applying for grants.
3. Promotes the department through advertising, social media, website content, publications development, and participation in seminars and events.
4. Assist with maintaining and developing content for the department's website and social media channels.
5. Provides graphic design skills to assist the outreach efforts of the department's other programs, including interpretive signs, brochures, posters, reports, and other printed media.

Who May Apply

This position, Communications and Outreach Coordinator (Job Requisition #14181), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in an office setting. Incumbent must have available private transportation for completion of field assignments on a timely basis. Weekend and evening duty may be anticipated. Certain promotional activities, required convention attendance, etc. may require overnight stays away from home.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, advertising, English, or technical and business writing AND two (2) years or more of experience in communications, public or media relations, marketing, policy writing, or consumer education.

OR

Four (4) years or more of experience in communications, public or media relations, marketing, policy writing, or consumer education.
