Title: Business Services Administrator (Temporary)

Overview
The Business Services Division within the Office of the Secretary of State is seeking a Temporary Business Services Administrator to support the administration and operation of Vermont's business registration system and services. This position is ideal for someone who is technology-oriented, enjoys mastering complex subject matter, provides exceptional customer service, and works effectively with a high degree of independence.
As one of seven members of the Division, the Business Services Administrator plays a key role in processing more than 125,000 business filings annually and supporting businesses registered with the Secretary of State. Primary responsibilities include providing direct customer support by phone, email, and in person; processing and reviewing business filings; supporting colleagues with backup coverage and subject matter expertise; and assisting with the design, maintenance, and enhancement of Division IT systems and operations.
This position also contributes to the review and development of business statutes, administrative rules, and operational procedures while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including regulators, financial institutions, and federal, state, and municipal government partners.

Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed predominately in an office setting and require regular provision of personal service to the public. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary during heavy season or for special projects such as manning a booth at an event. Incumbent must be able to multitask on diverse projects while maintaining their daily routine and customer service responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or public administration, policy or related field AND two (2) years or more of experience in business operations, law, finance, policy, human resources or related fields.
OR
Associates degree in human resources, business or public administration, policy or a related field AND three (3) years or more of experience in business operations, law, finance, policy, human resources or related fields.
OR
Paralegal Certification AND three (3) years or more of experience in business operations, law, finance, policy, human resources or related fields.
OR
Five (5) years or more of experience in business operations, law, finance, policy, human resources or related fields.
