Overview

The Vermont Department of Human Resources (DHR) is seeking a Business Application Support Specialist to join our team of professionals dedicated to delivering efficient, user-centered services across state government.

 

This position plays a key role in supporting and improving the enterprise systems that power DHR's operations, including recruitment, payroll, and performance management. The Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for end users, offering technical support, guidance, and training. The position will also analyze complex system issues, troubleshoot data and interface errors, and partner with IT and business stakeholders to identify and implement system enhancements. The work will directly contribute to improving the experience of HR professionals and state employees who rely on these systems every day.

 

Requests to telework will be considered, with some in person work at our Montpelier office required.

As of July 14, 2025, the step 1 rate for pay grade 25 will be $30.92 per hour.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting. Private means of transportation should be available for required travel. The role involves intensive interaction with departmental staff to include officials who may advocate strongly for their programs. Must be able to communicate and interact directly with employees at varying degrees of system skill sets as well as varying levels of authority. Conflicting priorities and operational problems may be anticipated; competing priorities and tight deadlines are a frequent occurrence.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years technical level experience working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.

OR

Associates degree in business or computer science AND four (4) years experience at a technical level working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.

OR

Six (6) years experience at a technical level working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.
