The Department of Taxes seeks a self-motived, curious, individual to fill a key position in the Compliance Division, working closely with the management team performing tasks and leading projects that support divisional initiatives. Much of the work in this role will be independent and involve research, evaluating effectiveness of programs, compiling/analyzing data, as well as running and reviewing reports, managing assigned work queues, and creating/updating process maps. Applicant with the skill set may also be involved in assisting to develop audit discovery programs.

 

The hourly salary rate for this position ranges from $30.92 to $48.48, and State of Vermont benefits are very competitive. The starting salary for this position may be negotiable depending on experience and qualifications. The annual salary for this position ranges from approximately $64,313 to $100,838. The annual salary range reflects the minimum and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. The annual salary is calculated based on 2080 hours of annual compensation and does not include authorized overtime or other compensation. It also does not include any time taken off payroll.

 

This is a full-time position located in Montpelier, Vermont with opportunities for hybrid telework.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with testing improvements made in the department's system
  • Develop change management strategies with particular emphasis on process efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain process methodologies, documentation, and metrics.
  • Research trends and improvement opportunities to optimize Tax administration.
  • Assist with project managing the Division's Audit Plan by facilitating discussions between audit and data teams, assist with vetting data, setting, and monitoring timelines for tasks to achieve goals of the plan

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a standard office setting. Incumbents should anticipate some stressful situations and strong differences of opinion with taxpayers and/or their representatives. Workload will vary but remain heavy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics, business administration, project management or information technology management.

 

OR

 

Associate's degree in accounting, statistics, business administration, project management, or information technology management AND four (4) years or more of professional level experience in business analysis or business administration INCLUDING two (2) years or more of business process creation or project management.

 

OR

 

High school diploma or equivalent AND six (6) years or more of professional level experience in business analysis or business administration INCLUDING four (4) years or more of business process creation or project management.

 

OR

 

Certification as a CPA or RPA.
