Overview
The Finance Division of the Department of Taxes is looking for a business analyst to join our team. The Finance Division oversees revenue accounting and returns processing for the Department of Taxes. This position will work directly with the Division Director on a variety of complex monthly and annual reports including the monthly revenue reports, fiscal budget preparation, the annual CAFR reporting, the Department's annual audit. The duties of this position are performed with a large degree of independence and a high level of accuracy and knowledge.

VERMONT DEPARTMENT OF TAXES (VDT) BACKGROUND CHECKS: This position will primarily support the Department of Taxes. Candidates must agree to be fingerprinted and pass a background check to be eligible for this position, which will involve access to sensitive federal tax information. Background checks are required by the Internal Revenue Service and are authorized under Vermont law. 3 V.S.A. § 241. In accordance with VDT Standard Operating Procedure 2018-01, Background Investigations, Vermont and national criminal record checks will be conducted on all candidates. This requirement shall not apply to the following: current classified State employees seeking transfer, promotion, or demotion into a VDT classified position, or those who are exercising re-employment (RIF) rights. Candidates will have the right to withdraw their application before fingerprinting or a background check is conducted.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in a standard office setting. Incumbents should anticipate some stressful situations and strong differences of opinion with taxpayers and/or their representatives. Workload will vary but remain heavy.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent AND six (6) years or more of professional level experience in business analysis or business administration INCLUDING four (4) years or more of business process creation or project management.
OR
Associate's degree in accounting, statistics, business administration, project management, or information technology management AND four (4) years or more of professional level experience in business analysis or business administration INCLUDING two (2) years or more of business process creation or project management.
OR
Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics, business administration, project management or information technology management.
OR
Certification as a CPA or RPA.
