Buildings & General Services at the State of Vermont has a unique opportunity for a District Heat Plant Supervisor in Montpelier. This position is responsible for the operation of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment and will oversee Heat Plant operations during their assigned shift. During the heating season this position will work 8am to 4:30pm Tuesday through Thursday, and 4pm to 12:30am Friday and Saturday. During the off season, May to October, the position will work 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Environmental Factors

Duties are typically performed in a heating plant facility and may involve varying work shifts, often as the only person on duty. Need for overtime or after-hours emergency work may occur. Operation and servicing of mechanical equipment and high-pressure systems poses some potential of on-the-job injury.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years or more of experience or training in a mechanical, building maintenance, or equipment repair field preferably related to heating equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful completion of the BGS Boiler Room Training program.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience as a supervisor, manager, or team lead.

Special Requirements

A valid motor vehicle driver's license may be required.

During non-heating seasons, incumbents of this class will assign routine building/equipment or grounds maintenance functions as required.
