Overview

The Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking a versatile and driven candidate to join our team as the On-Site Loan Technician at our Montpelier, Vermont office.

 

This new position will oversee the Department's On-Site Loan Program, which provides low-interest loans to income-eligible Vermonters to repair or replace their failed on-site water and wastewater systems.

 
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team that works to protect human health and the environment through proactive assistance, funding, outreach, and education on Vermont's environmental laws, regulations, rules, and permits

 
Core responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Serve as the technical project manager for the On-Site Loan Program through reviewing application and supporting materials, reviewing loan disbursements, overseeing the fund balance, and ensuring the loan provider is meeting program needs
  • Provide courteous and timely assistance to homeowners applying to program and awardees
  • Coordinate with licensed designers, engineers, consultants, system installers, and DEC staff on the program
  • Develop and improve outreach materials such as fact sheets, FAQs, application forms, etc.
  • Ensure a complete, well organized record of program information
  • Periodically, review program practices and policies, relevant laws, and make recommendations for changes to maintain program effectiveness
     

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and patient, has excellent written and oral communication skills, manages time effectively and multitasks routinely, has strong organization skills, meets deadlines, and is able to work independently and as a team member with other staff. 

 

This position is a part time temporary position with an expected average of 20 hours of work per week through December 31, 2026.

Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent and one (1) year of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

 

OR

 

One (1) year of College level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field.

 

OR

 

One (1) year as an Administrative Services Technician III with the State of Vermont.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
