Overview

The Vermont State Archives and Records Administration (VSARA) is seeking a highly collaborative and innovative problem-solver to perform advanced functions of the Statewide Records and Information Management (RIM) Program and oversee specific projects and initiatives as assigned. 

 

The ideal candidate has at least five (5) or more years of RIM experience in a government or corporate environment:

•    Identifying, classifying and analyzing Federal and state legal recordkeeping requirements to perform formal records appraisals and develop record schedules.

•    Collaborating with attorneys, technologists, business managers, and functions-based personnel, as well as colleagues and superiors, to formulate RIM policies.

•    Explaining compliance requirements to diverse audiences and providing full consultative and outreach services, including through education and training.

•    Developing and implementing services and systems to strategically fulfill mission-critical informational needs of a government entity or corporation.

•    Responding to and resolving difficult and complex situations and problems; independently determining when concerns need to be referred for further action.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting, but some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in library or information sciences, public administration, information technology, or related field AND five (5) or more years of records and information management (RIM) experience in a government or corporate environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate level coursework or degree in information systems (MIS/MISM), library and information science (MLIS/MLS), public administration (MPA), or another related area of study, including Juris Doctor (JD).

Professional certification, such as Certified Records Manager (CRM), Certified Records Analyst (CRA), Certified Information Professional (CIP), Information Governance Professional (IGP), and other certificates of specialization in information governance or records management from AIIM, ARMA, ICRM, and similar associations.
