Overview

Woodside Juvenile Rehabilitation Center is the only locked facility that cares for Vermont's most at-risk youth. The Youth Counselor position works as part of a team to provides direct service to short stay and long term youth at the facility. The Youth Counselor must have excellent youth engagement skills, and knowledge in youth development, adolescent development, mental health and substance abuse issues.

Temporary Youth Counselors should expect to work overnights as well as day shifts depending on the needs of the facility.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a secure residential facility and require continuous contact and interaction with adolescents. The Counselors exist in a heightened state of awareness as emotionally stressful and physically dangerous situations are frequently encountered. Security concerns remain at the forefront. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND one 1 year or more providing direct client care or services to adolescents or young adults.

OR

Associate's degree AND three 3 years or more of providing direct client care or services to adolescents or young adults.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND five 5 years or more providing direct client care or services to adolescents or young adults.
