Overview

Come join a team of dedicated and compassionate staff at a new 16-bed state-of-the-art Secure Residential Facility in Essex, Vermont. You will play an essential role in the person-centered treatment of adults with severe mental illness. The facility is over 17,000 square feet with a separate full-size gymnasium. 

 

*Starting rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications. We are hiring for a day shift RN III.
 
This position is primarily responsible for monitoring and providing support for a safe and therapeutic environment facility wide during assigned shift. Incumbents are designated charge nurses and will fulfill the duties of the charge nurse role. Duties include supervising professional and paraprofessional nursing staff. Providing guidance for resolution of minor discipline issues, employee environmental concerns, and maintaining effective employee working relationships. Responsible for providing feedback and ensuring staff accountability for all aspects of care, including documentation to meet facility and regulatory standards. Advocates for resources necessary for resident care or those necessary to support work of the staff. Supports the Nurse Manager with performance evaluations and will participate in the development and implementation of practices within the facility. Assists Nurse Program Coordinator I in facilitating ongoing competencies/trainings with nursing staff.

Environmental Factors

Duties primarily performed in a clinical setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license AND three (3) years or more of professional nursing experience in the nursing specialty.

NOTE: Must maintain Vermont licensure or multi-state license as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment.

Special Requirements

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
