Overview

The Agency of Transportation is seeking a District Administrative & Technical Assistant. This position will work in an office setting in District 9 at the Derby/Newport garage. At times, travel may be required to other garages to assist with computer replacement, repair, and other related duties.

 

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance, including program installation on computers, troubleshooting, and testing/fixing computer problems. The position may assist with upgrades of various applications and establishment of user environments, directories, and security. The position will also train new users and monitor data entered into the Maintenance Assets Tracking System (VTMATS), verifying information entered is accurate.

Environmental Factors

Duties are normally performed in a standard office setting with occasional field trips to district garages. Considerable interaction with the general public and co-workers is anticipated. Some pressure from deadlines may occur.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent INCLUDING three (3) years or more of office clerical experience OR two (2) years or more of experience computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration including one or more of the following: (1) assisting in the assembly, installation and configuration of hardware and software applications, or (2) customer support / training in use of computer systems and answering common questions and troubleshooting to resolve computer hardware, software and user issues.
