Overview

The VDH Laboratory Information Systems team is looking for a highly motivated person with knowledge of laboratory process and health data systems experience to provide application support for our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) users with a focus on functional testing and assisting with user acceptance testing for a major LIMS upgrade in early 2024. 


Major job duties: Assist in the execution, coordination, and oversight of user acceptance testing; Troubleshoot user issues, determine appropriate action for resolution, and follow through; Identify and provide training for LIMS as needed; Assist in gathering and documenting requirements for new system functionality; Configure and/or run LIMS queries to respond to laboratory data requests from laboratory, or departmental staff and other partners. This position requires extensive analytical and troubleshooting skills to carry out the primary responsibilities. Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Health Laboratory Information Systems Coordinator.

 

Candidate must have the ability to balance competing demands, urgent matters, and confidential material in a professional manner, and have a strong customer service focus. Candidate must be proficient in basic MS Office applications. Experience using a LIMS or EHR, creating and executing functional testcases, or with business analysis processes a plus!

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in standard office and laboratory settings. Occasional exposure to hazardous materials, infectious agents, and chemical toxins may occur.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in biology, chemistry or a related scientific field, healthcare informatics or other information technology field, AND two (2) years or more of informatics related experience (i.e., managing, developing, implementing, and/or supporting laboratory information systems). 

OR
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or a related scientific field, healthcare informatics or other information technology field, AND four (4) years or more of informatics related experience (i.e., managing, developing, implementing, and/or supporting laboratory information systems). 

OR
Associate’s degree in biology, chemistry or a related scientific field, healthcare informatics or other information technology field, AND five (5) years or more of informatics related experience (i.e., managing, developing, implementing, and/or supporting laboratory information systems).
