Overview

The AOT General Maintenance Manager (TGMM) is responsible for district activities that include budgeting, performance and operations management. This is a leadership role for garage supervisors and requires working collaboratively with technical and administrative staff and members of the sister-district.

 

Duties involve providing guidance and direction to team members to ensure that work activities, in summer and winter, are completed in a safe, productive and compliant manner. The TGMM will conduct meetings with their district supervisors and will periodically attend garage meetings. The position is also responsible for keeping project spending within budget limits while accomplishing established goals.

 

Candidates should have considerable knowledge of transportation maintenance and construction principles and have experience in organization management. Ideally, candidates will be safety minded, have knowledge of VOSHA requirements and promote safe working practices. Must be able to work under pressure, able to speak to the media/public, and be proficient in the use of technical devices such as computers and iPads and their applicable programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in office and field settings. Travel to the various work sites within an assigned district may result in exposure to adverse weather conditions and/or traffic hazards. This position will require traveling throughout the state as well as some trips out of state, or out of the country. Incumbents are required to be on call and report to duty during all highway emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business management, or related field AND five (5) or more years of experience in transportation administration, highway maintenance or construction, INCLUDING three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.

OR

Associate's degree in engineering, business management, or related field AND six (6) years or more of experience in transportation administration, highway maintenance or construction, INCLUDING four (4) years in a supervisory capacity.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND eight (8) years or more of experience in transportation administration, highway maintenance or construction, INCLUDING five (5) years in a supervisory capacity.
