Overview

The Vermont Department of Health is seeking a public health program evaluator to develop and implement evaluations across a multitude of program types and settings. In addition to leading specific evaluation projects, the person in this position will also assist others in the planning of evaluations and support inclusion of evaluation in grant applications and other grant related reports. Experience with different types of evaluation methods (i.e., qualitative and quantitative) and types (i.e., process and outcome) is preferred.

Class Definition

Program evaluation work at a professional level for the Department of Health. Incumbents in this role will conduct evaluation projects designed to measure and communicate the effectiveness of public health programs. Work is performed at the program, systems, and policy levels. Duties are performed under the direction of an administrative supervisor. The position may collaborate with members of the community, department and agency staff, and other departments of the State of Vermont. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, and strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

Environmental Factors

Duties are typically performed in a standard office setting. Some travel is required for which private means of transportation should be available. Incumbents may need to work evenings or weekends and speak before public groups.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in a health-related or social science field and two (2) years or of professional experience including research, evaluation, or performance management.

OR

Bachelor's Degree in a health-related or social science field and four (4) years or more of professional experience primarily focused on research, evaluation, or performance management.
