Do you love working with budgets, people and emergency preparedness? The Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Coordinator is a position in the Division of Emergency Preparedness, Response and Injury Prevention which is the nexus of where these three themes collide. Working collaboratively with local, state, and federal partners, the PHEP Coordinator manages one of the largest annual, non-emergency based, grants at the Department of Health having cross-divisional impact. This work will include, but is not limited to, the planning and monitoring of workplans, updating and managing budgets, tracking and reporting progress towards meeting federal emergency preparedness grant requirements, and building the systems and process to do all of it! This fantastic opportunity has high visibility across the department to deepen core competencies for public health emergency preparedness, to strengthen project management skills and to contribute to continuous improvement processes, all while working with a focused and dedicated team.

Environmental Factors

Duties are primarily performed in a standard office setting. Moderate travel and field work are required, for which private means of transportation may be necessary. Participation in a variety of meetings and conferences may be anticipated. Exercises and actual emergencies require work outside of normal hours. Stress may be encountered from tight deadlines. On-call status may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a health or public administration field AND four (4) years or more of professional level experience in administration, planning, or supervision in a public health, health care or human services field.
Master's degree in public health, public administration or a health field AND two (2) years or more of professional level experience in administration, planning, or supervision in a public health, health care or human services field.
