Overview
The Public Health Nurse supports various health department efforts to improve health equity in Chittenden County. Currently the work is focused on COVID-19 response efforts. This includes COVID-19 testing, COVID-19 vaccination, and technical assistance to organizations to prevent and mitigate COVID-19 in their facility populations. This position provides public health recommendations to school, childcare, and health care sectors, among others. This is not a patient care position.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Environmental Factors
Duties primarily performed in a standard office setting. Work may be performed in clinic settings and possibly client homes. Exposure to communicable diseases and other stressful situations may occur. Private means of transportation is required. May be required to work evenings, weekends and 12 hour shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in nursing AND five (5) years or more of professional nursing experience INCLUDING three (3) or more years in public health or community health nursing*.
OR
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND three (3) or more years in public health or community health nursing*.
Possession of, or eligibility for, licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont
*Community Health Nursing is defined as school nursing, home health nursing, home visiting nurses and community nurse health educators.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Special Requirements
Must maintain Vermont licensure as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment.
