Overview

Provide administrative and clinical leadership for the Vermont Immunization Program. Supervise staff and ensure equitable distribution of work. Lead the Immunization Program's efforts in working with health care providers, responding to needs of the health care provider community, and implementing or enhancing services to support the delivery and provision of immunizations. Provide timely data, information on program efforts, and training to health care provider practices. Assume responsibility for overall management of CDC immunization grants and collaborate with CDC to plan and implement required activities to meet program requirements. Stay informed about CDC recommendations for vaccines and determine which vaccines are provided through the Vermont Immunization Program. Work across the Health Department and Agency of Human Services to coordinate immunization efforts for at-risk populations, meet statutory requirements, and prevent duplication of effort. Provide leadership for the statutorily required Immunization Advisory Committee and the Immunization Funding Advisory Committee. Communicate with insurers and monitor the impact of the Vermont Vaccine Purchasing Program, proposing changes as needed to ensure success of the program. Environmental Factors

Duties primarily performed in a standard office setting. Work may be performed in clinic settings and possibly client homes. Exposure to communicable diseases and other stressful situations may occur. Private means of transportation is required. May be required to work evenings, weekends and 12 hour shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND eight (8) years or more of professional nursing experience working in public health, community health* or specialty area INCLUDING three (3) years or more of administrative or supervisory experience.

Possession of, or eligibility for, licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license.

 

*Community Health Nursing is defined as school nursing, home health nursing, home visiting nurses and community nurse health educators.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master of Public Administration (MPH).
