Title: Public Health Inspection Manager

Overview
The Vermont Department of Health has an exciting opportunity to be on the front lines of protecting public health in Vermont. The successful candidate will provide leadership and management for the field team conducting a variety of public health inspections of food safety systems, general sanitation practices, and environmental conditions in the Division of Environmental Health's Food & Lodging Program. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with great communication and supervisory skills, ability to lead a technical team, enjoys problem solving in complex situations, and navigating situations involving conflict or differences of opinion. This position works closely with regulated facilities to ensure compliance with Vermont's food and lodging establishment regulations for the protection of public health. Familiarization with FDA Food Code and Good Manufacturing Practices for food processors is a plus. Overnight and out-of-state training may be required for certain training opportunities.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in both field and office setting. Incumbents may encounter strong differences of opinion and emotional reactions which must be dealt with in a firm, objective and helpful manner. A valid Vermont driver's license and or some private means of transportation is necessary. Some evening or weekend work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in health, administration or human services field AND (2) years or more of experience at a professional level in environmental health, public health, food safety or sanitary engineering setting.
OR
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in a physical or biological science, nutrition, health, environmental engineering, or a related field AND six (6) years or more of experience at a professional level in environmental health, public health, food safety or sanitary engineering setting, including or supplemented by supervisory experience.
