Overview

Hourly rates within the Classified Bargaining Unit Pay Plan will change effective July 3, 2022.  At that time, the starting rate (Step 1) for this job opening will be $26.42 per hour.

The Vermont Department of Health is looking for a Medical Logistician for our Medical Countermeasures Program.  This job involves planning, administrative, and technical work at a professional level relative to Medical, Vaccine, and Testing Logistics in the Medical Countermeasures Program of the Vermont Department of Health. This position is responsible for the development, administration, coordination, quality control, and evaluation of the assigned focus area. Extensive interaction with a variety of businesses, communities, first responders and government officials are involved.  Duties include, but are not limited to planning, assessment, design, and development, coordinating plan activities and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, technical assistance, and education, managing logistics, warehousing & deployable resources and quality assurance with participant health department staff and inter-agency affiliations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Health Medical Countermeasures & Strategic National Stockpile Coordinator.  

 

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 
•    Managing testing supplies, and kits from receipt to distribution/transfer 
•    When necessary, assuring proper cold chain management through all phases of testing operations including being compliant with CDC and Vermont Department of Health 
        Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures
•    Development of, implementation of, and instruction in Lab Test Kit Warehouse Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines 
•    Providing input for policy development that impacts the Lab Test Kit Warehouse.
•    Coordinating transportation of test kits with other units of the Medical Countermeasures Warehouse.  
•    Collaborating and communicating clearly with state partners and deployed personnel to respond to time-sensitive requests to ensure safe and effective transfer of needed 
        testing supplies.
•    Navigating and maintaining various software systems.
•    Ensuring efficient and timely distribution/transfer of testing from the Vaccine Depot to all corners of Vermont.
•    Will be cross-trained to support all activities of the Medical Countermeasures Warehouse.

 

Position needs working knowledge of common technology platforms and strong organizational skills.  Duties may vary in times of medical emergency to support national, state and local needs.  

 

This is a Limited Service Position currently funded through June 30, 2023.

Environmental Factors

Duties are generally performed in standard office, warehouse, and field settings. Private means of transportation must be available for required travel. Position may require attendance at meetings outside of normal office hours.  On-call/stand by status may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years or more of experience in community-based planning, program administration and evaluation.

OR

Associate degree AND five (5) years or more of experience in community-based planning, emergency preparedness, program administration and evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) or more years’ experience in Public Health emergency preparedness and/or Incident Command Structure (ICS) and/or EMS, fire, or police agencies emergency preparedness and /or regional or municipal planning.

One (1) or more years’ experience in logistics and warehousing. Forklift certification preferred but not required.
