Join our efforts to increase the size of the labor force by ensuring that employment services and opportunities are made more available to jobseekers and that employers are supported in offering more flexible and diverse workplaces.
This position works within the Vermont Department of Labor's Workforce Development Division and provides basic and individualized career services to jobseekers. This position will concentrate much of their time on outreach efforts to Migrant Seasonal Farmworkers (MSFWs) to promote and deliver comprehensive services offered through the Vermont One-Stop American Job Center network. Services for employers may also be provided. This position collaborates with partner organizations and agencies to promote the seamless delivery of workforce services that benefit both workers and employers. Candidates should have experience in initiating and maintaining relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
This position is assigned to the Burlington American Job Center, but there is an expectation for extensive travel between multiple regional offices, to worksites including remote farms, and other community sites across the state. Expect extensive travel during peak farm season and you may be required to attend evening or weekend meetings. A valid driver's license and private means of transportation are required.

Environmental Factors
Interviews clients who are often under significant personal and financial burden, and who may exhibit significant stress and anxiety and may exhibit uncooperative or angry behaviors. It is expected that JCS II staff will engage all clients in a manner that exhibits professionalism, sensitivity, fairness, tact and diplomacy, and helps clients understand the services available to them through VDOL programs. Supportive attitude and actions are expected to be demonstrated in dealing with clients.
Position is assigned to a regional office location, but there is an expectation for travel between multiple regional locations as assigned by the Department. Will include travel to employers' worksites, schools/technical centers and community partner meetings. May be required to attend evening meetings as assigned by supervisor. Valid driver's license and private means of transportation is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree or higher in human resources field, public or business administration, or human services fields.
OR
Two (2) years or more experience in customer service, employment services, human services, human resources, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Spanish language proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
Direct experience in farm work activities or working with farmworkers.
Experience supporting New Americans, migrant seasonal farmworkers, and/or English Language Learners.
