Overview

As part of the Agency of Digital Services' IT Team supporting the Vermont Department of Health, this IT System Developer II will:

• Serve as a developer for Agency of Digital Service's Salesforce.com applications that serve the Vermont Department of Health
• Develop and Administer the  Vermont Department of Health Salesforce production environment and sandbox management
• Provides technical solutions based on the organization's direction, operations, processes and principles.

We are seeking candidates with the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Considerable knowledge of software development platforms, computer programming languages, software frameworks, basic server administration, and design patterns.
• Strong analytical skills, particularly as involved work units, sequence of operations, and necessary outcomes.
• Ability to prepare system designs, work flow plans, report format and input output documents adequate to meet user needs.
• Ability to perform software and data base design and to construct specifications for programmers and data base administrators.
• Ability to convert user specifications into a successful data processing application.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate system performance.
• Ability to evaluate and estimate system development costs.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to work under pressure from deadlines

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: This position will primarily support a department within the Agency of Human Services. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.  In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting and there is considerable interaction with users and members of project teams requiring some tact and diplomacy to balance competing views. Work outside of regular work schedule can be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science AND two (2) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

OR

Associate's degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND four (4) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

OR

Six (6) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

Preferred Qualifications

• 0 to 2 years of SalesForce.com Development experience
• Thorough knowledge of systems analysis, system design and data base architecture.
• Design, develop, test, document, and deploy high-quality business solutions on the SFDC platform based on industry best practices and business needs.
• Experience in SFDC development using Apex classes, batch scripts and triggers, Visualforce pages and components (in both Classic UI and LEX), Force.com IDE, SOQL, SOSL, REST & Web Services APIs, Flow Designer.
• Knowledge of integration architecture as well as third-party integration tools and Web Services API and third-party integration tools (DreamFactory, Mulesoft, Rhapsody).
• Proficient in SFDC Administrative tasks like creating profiles, roles & users, manipulating page layouts and record types, setting up email services, configuring approvals, designing workflows, creating reports & dashboards, working in both the Classic UI and Lightning
• Create, install and maintain managed AppExchange packages such as Pardot, ownbackup.com, Conga Composer, etc
• Troubleshoot Salesforce application and integration issues
• Knowledge of Public Sector and Human Service's technology
