Overview
Buildings & General Service (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting and unique opportunity with room for growth as a custodian II within the Operations & Management Division. This position will be responsible for the daily custodial duties at the Zampieri State Office Building. The position will also work as part of a larger team that performs these duties at other state facilities within the greater Burlington area. Travel between these facilities may be required and will utilize a state owned and/or a privately owned vehicle. This position requires successful completion of multiple background checks, and a valid driver's license.
We are filling two full-time positions, the hours are Monday through Friday, 11:30am to 8pm, or 4am to 12:30pm. Please indicate on your application if you have a shift preference.

Class Definition
Custodial cleaning and minor maintenance work caring for state offices and other state-owned or leased facilities. This class is differentiated from the previous level by level of autonomy, responsibility for floorcare, using and maintaining floorcare equipment, and responsibility for custodial supplies. Incumbents may work individually or as part of a custodial crew. Work assignments are received in the form of oral or written instruction and are subject to inspection while in progress or upon completion. Work is performed under the supervision of a custodial, maintenance, or administrative supervisor.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.
OR
One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I.
Special Requirements
Some positions in this class require a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel between work locations.
Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
