Title: Administrative Assistant B - Limited Service

Overview
The Vermont Department of Health's Laboratory Sciences & Infectious Disease Division has an opening for an Administrative Assistant in the Infectious Disease Section. This position will primarily support the Infectious Disease Section but will also provide support across the division. The work is assistive in nature and focuses on extending the capabilities of professional or managerial positions. Regular tasks include triaging and managing phone calls from providers, partners and the general public, accounts payable support, managing infectious disease case opening in surveillance database, training documentation and maintenance, and general office support. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills and flexibility in performing a variety of functions. Work is primarily performed in an office setting with the option to work from home one or two days a week.

It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed predominately in an office setting. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
OR
Associate's degree and one (1) year providing administrative-level duties for a project, program, or operation
OR
High school graduation or equivalent and two (2) years performing administrative-level duties for a project, program, or operation.
Note: Administrative duties are those beyond general clerical or secretarial, such as interpretation of laws, rules and regulations; data collection and analysis; managing support services; and implementing program policies and procedures.
