Overview
The Vermont Department of Corrections Probation & Parole office in Brattleboro is looking for a Community District Manager, who oversees all operations, including the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of staff. You'll also Manage offender programs related to work, education, and housing in the designated area.
Community District Managers act as a liaison to correctional facilities, criminal justice partners, local officials, service providers, non-profits, and other key stakeholders to ensures compliance with Department policies and state statutes.
You will also have to travel to statewide meetings and perform after-hours duties, including being on call and attending community or public meetings as required. May perform related duties across multiple locations as needed.

Environmental Factors
Duties are mainly performed in multiple community-based probation and parole offices. Departmental and public meetings result in frequent travel, between offices and may require that private means of transportation be available. Evening and weekend work may occur. Emergency situations require availability up to 24 hours per day. Direct contact with offenders is predictable and poses possible danger. Exposure to high-risk and medically compromised population of people in a secured and unsecured setting. Such as Hospitals and community locations.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma AND Five (5) years or more of responsibility in human services or criminal justice positions, INCLUDING two (2) years or more of experience working with corrections administration and/or corrections clients AND two (2) years or more of supervisory or management duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or human service related field.
Special Requirements
Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
