Overview
As the VPCH Clinical Educator, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks and duties. Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Clinical Education, you will play a leading role in fostering a safe, progressive, and productive organizational culture which, through instruction, inspires continuous growth and empowers VPCH employees to provide safe, effective, and cutting-edge psychiatric care that is of the highest quality. In collaboration with various clinical and operational leaders, you will participate in the development and facilitation of new employee orientation, ongoing education/professional development, and continuous evaluation of the core care-delivery, safety, and regulatory competencies. In addition to serving as a role model and a resource for hospital personnel, you will also participate in the evaluation of policies and procedures in relationship to best practice, audit/evaluate educational programs for quality, efficiency, effectiveness and alignment with desired outcomes, and share responsibility for the coordination of student clinical experiences and ensuring a climate conducive to their learning needs.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed primarily in clinical and office settings. The incumbent will routinely interact with individuals experiencing serious mental illness, who present with various levels of risk to self or others - assaultive behavior, elopement risk, self-harm; and may be exposed to infectious diseases and caustic detergents. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises or as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state RN license AND five (5) years or more of clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- Master’s degree in healthcare or human services related field.
- One or more of the following certifications:
- Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse (PMHRN) certified
- Nurse Educator
- Certified as a phlebotomist or in venipuncture instruction
- Patient Safety credential (CPPS) certification
- CPR/BLC Instructor Certified
- Professional Adult Crisis Training Certified Trainer
- Experience using Captivate
Special Requirements
License must be current and unencumbered.
Successful completion of a physical examination that includes movement and weightlifting testing, provided at a DMH preferred clinic, is required for this position.
