Overview
Are you a new or soon to be Registered Nurse with a desire to improve the well-being of Vermont’s most vulnerable populations? The State of Vermont is currently hiring entry-level Registered Nurses within our Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital in Berlin! This position is a great opportunity for new or soon to be Registered Nurses who would like to develop a specialty in behavioral health. Additional mentoring and oversight will be given in the course of your daily work. We are currently hiring for the night shift.
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessment, evaluation, and coordination of care and services to individuals experiencing psychiatric illnesses. Care and treatment may involve individuals with a variety of physical, emotional, mental and/or psychiatric disabilities. The Registered Nurse will also be responsible for developing individualized nursing care plans, administering prescribed treatments and medications, and collaboration with community health services and families.
*Starting rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Environmental Factors
Duties primarily performed in a clinical setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license.
OR
In the final semester of an accredited school of nursing program. (Graduation from the program must occur prior to hire and continued employment will be contingent on the employee passing the Nursing Licensure Exam (NCLEX).
Special Requirements
Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with applicable hiring standards, fingerprint supported criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion, or demotion into a classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
NOTE: Must maintain Vermont or multi-state licensure as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment.
