Overview

Come be part of an innovative, dynamic team at the cutting edge of mental healthcare delivery!  Recovery Services Clinicians at the Vermont Psychiatric Care hospital provide therapeutic groups and activities to hospitalized persons with severe mental health concerns, using a strengths-based approach to promote wellness and recovery.  Clinicians also conduct substance use assessments, engage in individual counseling, and facilitate treatment planning on a multidisciplinary team.  The ideal candidate will have experience delivering evidence-based treatment interventions in a group setting, familiarity with trauma-informed care, and an understanding of psychosis and other acute mental health conditions.  Lived experience in the mental health system will be considered an asset in this position.

Class Definition

Recovery support work involving providing group activities and skills building interventions to adults with severe mental illness. Includes participation in and coordination of multi-disciplinary treatment planning, assessment, provision of group and individual work, documentation and evaluation of therapeutic efficacy. Proficient in providing a spectrum of curriculum including Evidence Based Practices in settings that focus on whole person Wellness & Recovery. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recovery Services Director.

All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, and strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily within an institutional setting. Incumbents must possess considerable interpersonal human relations skills, including patience, humor and understanding to deal effectively within the institution. Emotional and mental stability is required. Significant interaction with consumers is required. Varying shift assignments may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, Occupational Therapy, Activities Therapy, Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field.

OR

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or a related field AND five (5) years or more providing therapeutic group activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) clinical licensure.

Experience providing therapeutic group activities.
