Overview

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to serve as a Construction Technology Specialist within the eConstruction Section of the Construction and Materials Bureau (CMB). This is a full-time position located in Berlin, VT.


The Construction Technology Specialist III participates in training and guidance initiatives for the CMS and related Bureau technologies under the guidance of the team supervisor. At this level, the incumbent may individually coordinate formulation and maintenance of training curricula and guidance documents with stakeholders. The Construction Technology Specialist III role requires some knowledge of CMS functionality, whether it is the Agency's chosen software platform or a similar construction management tool, and demonstrates the capability and willingness to become an expert user of the CMS. The incumbent shall be familiar with construction and/or materials management business processes at the State of Vermont, or elsewhere, and have work experience in document and resource management utilizing SharePoint.

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Participating in the development, coordination, and implementation of training curricula and guidance materials to ensure CMB software users can effectively utilize such technology.
  • Participating in collaborative efforts with Construction and Materials staff to ensure training and guidance resources remain current and are updated in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Utilizing SharePoint to host, maintain, publish, and communicate training and guidance resources.
  • Obtaining the skills of an experienced user of the Agency's Construction Management System and related technologies.
  • Increasing familiarization with the Agency's construction and materials business processes, through meetings, discussions, and other learning opportunities, for incorporation into training and guidance resources.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in both office and field settings. Incumbents should possess private means of transportation. Fieldwork may involve exposure to construction sites and varying weather conditions. Some work outside of regular hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data science, data analysis, geographic information systems, information technology or other closely related field AND two (2) or more years of experience in a technical support role in a field related to construction.

OR

Associate’s degree in engineering, data science, data analysis, geographic information systems, information technology or other closely related field AND four (4) or more years of experience in a technical support role in a field related to construction.

OR

Six (6) or more years of experience in a technical support role in a field related to construction.
