Overview

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is seeking a detail-oriented and forward-thinking individual to fill the role of a Construction Technology Specialist within our eConstruction Section. This is a full-time position located in Berlin, VT. 


This position will primarily play a critical role in configuring and maintaining the end-user hardware in all construction field offices around the state, as well as supporting the technology needs of Construction and Materials Bureau employees. By ensuring the smooth operation of end-user infrastructure in the field and client-side software of CMB, this position directly supports the successful delivery of over $200 million in projects annually. Secondarily, this position will also assist in the support & administration of existing applications and reporting tools in use by CMB, as well as other duties to help achieve the goals of the eConstruction unit.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Traveling to field offices around the state to deliver, connect, and/or configure necessary technology. This includes but is not limited to laptops, printers, and video conferencing equipment.
  • Supporting and troubleshooting end-user hardware and client-side software/applications in use by CMB employees
  • Maintaining the CMB hardware inventory and acting as a liaison between CMB and ADS to ensure all new and existing employees have their technology needs fulfilled

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in both office and field settings. Incumbents should possess private means of transportation. Fieldwork may involve exposure to construction sites and varying weather conditions. Some work outside of regular hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher engineering, data science, data analysis, geographic information systems, information technology or other closely related field.

OR

Associate’s degree in engineering, data science, data analysis, geographic information systems, information technology or other closely related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience in a technical support role.

OR

Four (4) or more years of work experience in a technical support role.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in construction industry or a related field.
