Overview

The Agency of Transportation is seeking a District Administrative & Technical Assistant. This position will work in an office setting in the Capital Region at the Berlin office. Occasional travel to regional garages will be required to assist with computer replacement, repair, and other related duties.

 

This position is responsible for providing clerical and technical assistance, including opening and distributing mail, processing payroll, processing project/program related invoice payments, answering phone inquiries from the public, assisting users in computer operations and device troubleshooting, assisting with installation of hardware and software, and providing help/training to users with the VAMIS program. This position also serves as back up support to administrative personnel and provides office coverage in their absence. Strong customer service skills are required, as well as the ability to learn, use, and train others with computer programs.

 

This is not a remote position, and work will take place within the Berlin, VT office.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a standard office setting. Some maintenance work on assigned equipment may be necessary. Frequent field trips to district garages to provide training to new users may be anticipated. Considerable interaction with co-workers and computer support staff is anticipated. Some pressure from deadlines may occur.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in accounting, business, office administration or closely related field INCLUDING two (2) years or more experience providing administrative level support to a business or organization OR two (2) years or more of experience computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration including one or more of the following: assisting in the assembly, installation and configuration of hardware and software applications, or customer support / training in use of computer systems and answering common questions and troubleshooting to resolve computer hardware, software and user issues.

OR

High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization. 

OR

Two (2) years or more as an AOT District Administrative & Technical Assistant III.
