Overview

The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) Clinical Social Worker works as part of an interdisciplinary team facilitating person-centered care for veterans and members. The incumbent will provide expertise in aging, mental health, substance abuse, behavioral issues, grief and loss, and dementia care to enhance the quality of life for veterans and members. The Social Worker will complete assessments, provide individual counseling, develop care plans and make recommendations for ongoing treatment as necessary. Additionally, the incumbent will facilitate discharge planning as needed for Veterans' and members, including referrals and coordination with outside agencies.

This is a part-time, temporary position through 3/31/26.

This position, Veterans' Home Clinical Social Worker (Job Req #53343), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed at the Vermont Veterans' Home. Position requires working weekends and/or evenings. Duties involve need for effective working relationships with a number of health care disciplines. Incumbents predictably encounter high levels of stress and emotional situations, exposure to potentially physically and verbally violent patient populations and exposure to infectious disease.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) AND one (1) year or more of supervised social work experience in a health care setting working directly with individuals.

Special Requirements

A Vermont Social Work License  (LICSW) must be obtained within two (2) years.
