Title: Therapeutic Activities Aide - Temporary

Overview
The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is seeking to hire a temporary part-time Therapeutic Activities Aide for a position within their Activities Division. This is a meaningful opportunity to work directly with our Veterans and Members (residents), supporting their well-being through engaging and therapeutic recreational programs. The Activities Aide will be responsible for planning, setting up, and leading a variety of recreational programs for the residents of the VVH, as well as supporting resident participation and engagement during program activities. The work will involve assisting residents as they attend on-site and off-site events that are sponsored by various community service organizations, such as the fishing derby, car show, picnics, and many others. Additionally, the Aide be responsible for assisting with progress reports, daily paperwork, and/or data-entry.
This is a temporary part-time position that will be scheduled to work approximately 24 hours per week, as needed, including every other weekend and holidays. This is a unique opportunity that requires collaboration and coordination, and offers room for growth.

This position, Therapeutic Activities Aide (#51463), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors
Activities are performed in an institutional setting involving elderly and/or disabled residents. Direct interaction with residents is extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. The activity schedule may require evening and weekend duties. A valid motor vehicle operator's permit is required for the transport of residents to and from activity events. Good physical health is required for rendering physical assistance to and transporting and moving residents.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Past experience working in a nursing home, healthcare setting or with older adults.
Past experience facilitating therapeutic activities with groups of any age.
