The Vermont Department of Health is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced dental hygienist to join a dedicated and caring interdisciplinary team that makes a difference in the health of communities in Vermont. The Public Health Dental Hygienist will provide oral health services and referrals to WIC families, collaborate with and be a resource to community partners and healthcare professionals and integrate the latest standards of care into medical and dental practices by providing current information and relevant trainings. Clinical responsibilities include providing oral health risk assessments, oral health education, and fluoride varnish applications.

The ideal candidate for this position is an advocate, promoter and a resource for oral health in the community and is confident engaging with a diverse range of patients including children. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in an office, clinic, or other off-site setting for which private means of transportation is required. Some work may be necessary outside of normal work schedule. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered requiring diplomacy and tact.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or higher in dental hygiene AND three (3) years or more of work experience as a dental hygienist.


Master's degree in public health, public administration, dental hygiene, or closely related field AND two (2) years or more of work experience as a dental hygienist.

Must currently possess or be able to obtain Vermont Dental Hygienist license by time of hire.
