Title: Part-Time Therapeutic Activities Aide

Overview
The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is seeking to hire part-time Therapeutic Activities Aides for positions within their Activities Division. These temporary positions are responsible for setting up and leading a variety of recreational programs for the residents of the VVH. The position will assist residents as they attend events that are supported and funded by various community service organizations, such as the fishing derby, car show, picnics, and many others. Incumbents will be responsible for assisting with progress reports and other daily paperwork and/or data entry.
One applicant will be hired to work 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and another to work 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, please indicate in your application if you have a shift preference. These are part-time positions working approximately 24 hours per week including some weekends and holidays. This is a unique opportunity that requires collaboration and coordinating and offers room for growth.

This position, Part-Time Therapeutic Activities Aide (#48192), is open to all State employees and external applicants.This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors
Activities are performed in an institutional setting involving elderly and/or disabled residents. Direct interaction with residents is extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. The activity schedule may require evening and weekend duties. A valid motor vehicle operator's permit is required for the transport of residents to and from activity events. Good physical health is required for rendering physical assistance to and transporting and moving residents.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Past experience working in a nursing home, healthcare setting or with older adults.
Past experience facilitating therapeutic activities with groups of any age.
