Overview

The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) in Bennington, VT is currently seeking to hire part-time (temporary/per-diem) Licensed Practical Nurses to join our team. These are temporary positions working approximately 24 hours per week. The hours may include working some weekend shifts. Shift differentials apply to evening and night shifts. The shift hours are as follows:

  • Days, 6am to 2:30pm
  • Evenings, 2pm to 10:30pm
  • Nights, 10pm to 6:30am

 

We have a great team at VVH with providers available on-site Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and by phone other times and holidays. We have a wound care nurse, and we provide great care to our veterans, spouses and Gold Star parents. For more information about the Vermont Veterans' Home, please visit this site.

This position, Licensed Practical Nurse (Job Requsition #49535), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a long-term care and residential care setting. Incumbents may be assigned to any area of the facility and to any shift. Requires standing for long periods of time, walking for extended periods and distances, sitting, repetitive movements, bending, twisting, stretching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Duties require regular and direct interaction with residents with varying degrees of physical and mental illness, dementia, infectious diseases, severe physical and mental limitations, and residents who may display unpredictable verbal, physical, or aggressive behaviors.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of or eligible for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse LPN in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license.

Special Requirements

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels by regulation and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
