The Vermont Veterans’ Home (VVH) is responsible for the medical, physical and emotional care of some of Vermont’s most vulnerable: Veterans, spouses and gold star parents. VVH is seeking experienced Licensed Practical Nurses for all shifts to maintain the physical and emotional health of residents during this national pandemic.
The State is offering premium pay for these urgently needed positions.

  • Day: $26.14/hr
  • Evening: $26.89/hr
  • Night: $28.04/hr

Additionally, VVH will be offering housing accommodations in a nearby hotel at no cost for staff hired into these positions that reside 50+ miles from the facility.

Who May Apply

This position, Licensed Practical Nurse - Temporary (#6946), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a long term care and residential care setting. Incumbents may be assigned to any area of the facility and to any shift. Requires standing for long periods of time, walking for extended periods and distances, sitting, repetitive movements, bending, twisting, stretching, lifting, pushing and pulling. Duties require regular and direct interaction with residents with varying degrees of physical and mental illness, dementia, infectious diseases, severe physical and mental limitations and residents who may display unpredictable behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Vermont.

Special Requirements

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels by regulation and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
