Overview

The Vermont Veterans’ Home (VVH) is seeking an Administrative Services Technician II to serve as the Home’s receptionist and provide essential administrative support to daily operations. This role is the first point of contact for visitors, residents’ families, and callers, and plays an important part in creating a welcoming, professional experience for everyone who interacts with VVH.

 

In addition to managing a multi-line phone system and greeting guests, this position performs a range of clerical duties including data entry, database maintenance, and preparation of correspondence. Accuracy and attention to detail, especially with written communication, are critical, as work products are relied upon by staff and must meet applicable federal requirements. The ideal candidate will be organized, able to manage competing priorities, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard office equipment is expected.

 

This position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

Class Definition

Performs office support duties such as typing, proofreading, data entry, procuring office supplies, filing, sorting mail, copying documents, and serving as a receptionist. Follows established methods and routine procedures with the ability to perform tasks with some independence. Work is performed under the supervision of a higher level technician or administrative superior.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year or more of full-time college level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND completion of a vocational/technical training program in business, office administration, financial support or related area.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year or more of office clerical experience.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Technician I with the State of Vermont.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
