Overview

The Motor Vehicle Operations Specialist is a training-oriented position. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking an individual to conduct staff development and training work at a professional level. This position will focus on the identification, development and coordination of training that supports various DMV units. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills, working knowledge of adult learning techniques, and innovative thinking. This position will require occasional travel to other offices. This is not a remote position and is currently based out of Barre City Place with frequent work at the Montpelier DMV. This position will move to Montpelier in 2026. The hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm with occasional overtime.

In accordance with Title 23, Section 102(d), an applicant must agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation to be eligible for this position. The background investigation may include criminal, financial and traffic records checks. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting, but occasional travel may be required, for which private means of transportation may be needed. Interaction with the general public may be anticipated. Some pressure from deadlines may occur.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of office clerical experience, that included: significant public contact; the understanding of, and the ability to explain, policies/procedures or rules/regulations; and regular use of computer programs.

OR

One (1) year prior experience with the motor vehicle department.
