Overview

This Civil Engineer I position is within the Asset Management Bureau and the selected candidate will be a member of a team that focuses on many areas of the Agency, to include, but not limited to: bridge inspections, bridge load ratings, pavement analysis, asset need identification, project programming and budget preparation/tracking. This is an office-based position with sporadic opportunities for field work. The duties associated with this position will provide the selected candidate with an opportunity to be engaged in many aspects of the early phases and decision making processes used to determine where money is invested on the highway network.

Environmental Factors

Duties are largely performed in office and field settings. Incumbents should possess private means of transportation. Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours may be required. Strong and conflicting opinions may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

OR

Bachelor's degree in any field of engineering AND EITHER one (1) year or more of professional civil engineering work OR one (1) year or more of technical experience performing engineering support tasks involved in the planning, surveying, design, inspection, construction, research and statistics, testing, investigation, and maintenance of various types of civil engineering projects or operations.

OR

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).

OR

College senior in the final semester majoring in civil engineering.
