Overview

The Finance & Administration Director's Office at the Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking an collaborative, engaged, administrative professional with exceptional technical skills and experience influencing innovation within an organization. This position will perform advanced administrative and technical work at a professional level, including confidential work for the Director of Finance & Administration. Work is performed with a high degree of independence; engagement with other exempt and/or executive staff, elected officials, and the public, occurs on a daily basis.

 

This is a dynamic position, with responsibility for:

  • Overseeing and managing special projects within the Division
  • Developing program materials independently and under the guidance of program experts
  • Facilitating the initial budget development for the Division's annual budget request
  • Organizing travel arrangements and managing the schedules of the Director's office
  • Managing the Division's intern program
  • Overseeing the completion and maintenance of the Division's strategic plan and priorities
  • Serving as the Division's administrative hiring manager and personnel coordinator, which includes facilitating onboarding and offboarding requests


This position is located in Barre, VT. This position is eligible to telework up to one day per week.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field and two years of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

OR

Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

OR

One (1) year as an Administrative Services Coordinator IV with the State of Vermont.

 

NOTE: Additional professional administrative-level experience or higher will substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

NOTE: Only administrative work experience is qualifying. Administrative services includes those functions which keep the organization running or provide the resources for others to provide the programmatic work (e.g., accounting, budget management, grant administration, finance, human resources, payroll, purchasing, or space management).

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
