Overview

Are you an experienced professional who is passionate about making Vermont the best state in which to grow old or to live with a disability - with dignity, respect, and independence?  DAIL's Assistant Director of the Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD) presents an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic, experienced professional with excellent communication and organizational skills to join Team DAIL. DDSD is a major division within the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL). DDSD serves as the Managed Care Entity under Vermont's Global Commitment overseeing a provider network which delivers $200 million of services and supports for approximately 4500 people with developmental disabilities. Key duties for the Assistant Director include supervision of five division staff; assisting in budget oversight of approximately $12M in new Developmental Disabilities Services caseload funding each year; development, interpretation and oversight of policies and procedures to assure compliance with federal and state regulations and standards; extensive interaction and collaboration with other state and federal officials, service providers, advocacy organizations, and community members; and actively supporting service delivery and payment reform initiatives to improve the system of care for Vermonters and compliance with mandatory regulations. This position also stands in for the Division Director as needed.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting, but private means of transportation should be available for required travel outside of the office. Challenges occur on a regular basis involving obtaining appropriate services for people with complex needs.. Duties involve need for effective working relationships with a number of health care and human services professionals. Certain functions may require duty outside of normal work hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in human services, public administration or a health care related field AND four (4) years or more of professional level experience in disability and/or elder programs or services INCLUDING two (2) years or more in an administrative capacity including supervision of staff.

OR

Master's degree or higher in business administration AND six (6) years or more of professional level experience in disability and/or elder programs or services INCLUDING two (2) years or more in an administrative capacity including supervision of staff.

OR

Bachelor's degree in human services, public administration or a health care related field AND six (6) years or more of professional level experience in disability and/or elder programs or services INDLUCING two (2) years or more in an administrative capacity including supervision of staff.
