Overview

The Agency of Digital Services is seeking an individual with strong communication and technical skills to join our team of dedicated GIS professionals full-time at the Vermont Center for Geographic Information here in Montpelier. The person in this position will primarily work on supporting Vermont's statewide property parcel data program and related activities.

Responsibilities and tasks of this position will include:

- working with the program manager to communicate with municipalities and partners across the state;
collecting, reviewing, updating, publishing, and cataloging municipal parcel data;
- maintaining and further developing the Vermont Land Survey Library that hosts copies of documentation of parcel changes;
- developing ways to improve parcel update methods and practices, while assisting with maintaining infrastructure for making parcel data publicly available.

This is an opportunity to do impactful work on one of the most widely used spatial datasets in Vermont while empowering others across the state with open data.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting although regional office visits will require travel. Fieldwork may be required from. Attendance at meetings, seminars or conferences outside of normal work hours may be necessary. Manual dexterity is required in operating the computer and GIS-related hardware, as are good eyesight and eye-hand coordination.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, GIS, a natural resources field or other field closely related to mapping and GIS;

OR

Associate's degree or two years of college coursework in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, GIS, a natural resources field or other field closely related field to mapping and GIS AND two (2) or more years of experience in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, GIS, a natural resources field or other field closely related to mapping and GIS.

OR

Four (4) or more years of experience in in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, GIS, a natural resources field or other field closely related field to mapping and GIS.
