Come join the busy Elections Division team in the Office of the Secretary of State. The Elections Division seeks a professional, dynamic Elections Administrator I to join the small yet mighty Vermont Elections Division team and help continue the consistent record of excellence in election administration that this team has established.  The primary responsibility of this position will be oversight and management of the lobbying disclosure process, including administration of the online filing system for lobbyists and their employers.  This position will be the primary support person for users of that system and the primary liaison for the Division with the software programmers that support the system.  This position will also provide guidance to lobbyists and their employers with compliance with the law and disclosure process.
In addition to its primary responsibility of managing the lobbying disclosure process, this position will involve a considerable amount of time compiling and analyzing reports and statistical data; data entry into databases and excel spreadsheets; and proofreading of voluminous detailed information in publications and databases prior to publication and production of ballots for primary and general elections.  The Elections Administrator I will, at various times be asked to assist with a wide range of responsibilities related to the administration of statewide elections, as necessary,

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting, but some training of local officials around the state requires private means of transportation. Work outside of normal duty hours is required to meet deadlines for certain projects and considerable work outside of normal duty hours is mandatory to administer statewide elections in the summer and fall of each even numbered year.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Experience: One year experience with administrative duties including: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations, data collection and analysis, and proofreading of detailed reports.

Note: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree on a six months for a semester basis.
