Overview

The Department of Finance and Management is seeking to fill a managerial level role that involves the operation, direction, and coordination of statewide accounting functions and support functions for VISION (the State’s financial accounting system) in the Division of Financial Operations. This position is multi-faceted and serves as senior advisor to the Finance and Management Budget Office and the Joint Fiscal Office regarding policy implications and budgetary impact of new proposed legislative language.  Supervises a staff of professional VISION Financial Analysts, VISION Support Specialists, the Assistant Director of Statewide Accounting, and the VISION Support Manager.  Reports to the Commissioner of Finance and Management. An ideal candidate may have supervisory experience as well as knowledge of statewide accounting systems.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a standard office setting. Work outside of normal duty hours can be anticipated at times. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s and 7 years’ professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included managing a major fiscal program or operation.

Three (3) years or more as Assistant Director of Statewide Accounting or Financial Director III or IV or equivalent financial position with the State of Vermont.
