Overview

The ideal candidate will be experienced in workforce development, economic development, leadership and/or community outreach with demonstrated abilities to work with diverse populations. An emphasis is placed on cultivating community partnerships to promote business engagement, integration of services, alignment, and shared resources.

This role is to assist the Regional Manager with supervision of the daily operations of an American Job Center(s); responsible for supervision of staff, training, evaluating and assigning work; providing higher level support to customers and staff; conducting programmatic reviews of case files; attend community-based meetings representing VDOL. 

This position requires candidates have the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines, strong organizational, management and communication skills, de-escalation, problem solving skills, work in a fast-paced environment.  This position requires travel between at least two offices within the region.

Environmental Factors

Duties are typically performed in a standard office setting, with considerable travel between locations. Private means of transportation must be available. Evening and weekend hours are part of the job and must be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in workforce development, employment services, human resources, labor relations, human services and/or direct client case services and program delivery, public administration.

OR

Associate's degree AND three (3) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in workforce development, employment services, human resources, labor relations, human services and/or direct client case services and program delivery, public administration.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in workforce development, employment services, human resources, labor relations, human services and/or direct client services and program delivery, public administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in supervising or managing professional staff.
